Katie’s choice
Govancroft Pottery
c 1960's
I initially chose the dog because it reminded me of my wee granny, but I've since become fascinated by the story behind Campsie Ware.
Edward Langley started out using a home-made kiln, fired using coal he dug from his garden. He then spent a few years at Govancroft Pottery before starting his own company in 1952. Langley’s innovative sense of design and signature iridescent glazes continue to be enjoyed by collectors today.
