Barrowfield Pottery

c 1880's

We wanted to display a piece which referenced Scottish culture and chose this whisky flagon with Auld Lang Syne and a scene from Tam O’Shanter. You can’t get much more Scottish than that!

It was made in Barrowfield Pottery founded in 1866. Barrowfield was a huge stoneware producer in Glasgow’s east end, using steam power to mechanise its production. At its height it made thousands of bottles every day.
