MIG's choice

Bell;s Pottery

c 1880's

‘Makassar’, the pattern on this plate, was the inspiration for the commemorative plate the Lord Provost commissioned MIG to make to celebrate the 850th Anniversary of the City.

We love it because it tells the story of Glasgow’s design thinking and entrepreneurial spirit, as well as Glasgow’s historic global connections. It uses dragon imagery and red and green colours to appeal to the destination countries, it was made for in South-East Asia.
