Gift a Beithir scale making experience voucher
What your giftee can expect on a Scale Making Experience
(2 persons per scale)

Participants will start with an introduction to the ceramic art park, mosaics and a health and safety talk, before being shown examples and guides for a simple design.

Your giftee will be given a demo on how to smash, cut, shape, stick porcelain tiles onto fibre glass mesh to create your design.

Participants will also make their own personalised clay Beithir button as part of this creative experience.

Two of the project artists will facilitate the workshop to guide creativity and thinking to make a unique scale.

No previous experience is required but by the end of the 3-hour workshop participants will feel like a pro and know they have helped bring the colour to our beautiful Beithir, Scotland’s biggest community artwork.

The scale they make will be permanently installed as part of Bella the Beithir’s decoration.

Once installed on the Beithir at Stockingfield Art Park they will be able to come and find their scale with their personalised clay button and show it to their friends and family and future generations.

What happens on the day?

On arrival, you’ll be welcomed by our team of artists and volunteers. Your scale making experience will be taught by artists who will be there to guide participants step by step through the process.

The session will begin with meeting other scale makers, a site briefing, an introduction to the project and a demonstration on how to create a Beithir scale and personalise a soft clay button.

Participants will then be guided through the skills needed to make a unique handmade piece. Having made a scale, it will be prepared for installation on the Beithir later in the year.
Participant Guidelines:

Minimum age: 12 + with accompanying adult.

Spectators are not allowed due to space restriction.

48-hour cancellation policy

Your voucher is valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Sessions will take places on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings from January 2024

Please be aware that the Art Bothy site at Stockingfield Bridge is not yet fully accessible for all physical abilities. It is a working art studio and is still being developed as part of the wider project. We will do our utmost to host everyone who wants to participate in our project, however, currently there will be limitations. Insurance
MIG holds public liability insurance.
You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment except when damage has been caused because of recklessness or wilful negligence.
