Your purchase will help with our plans for a Scottish Pottery Museum and revive Glasgow's ceramic manufacturing heritage.
This plate was commissioned by the Lord Provost of Glasgow to celebrate the 850th Anniversary of the City.
The design draws on Glasgow’s rich ceramic history and heritage. It echoes a plate made in Bell’s Pottery factory in the late 1880’s and is layered with meaning, symbols and images representing Glasgow’s past and present.
Through the making of this plate an historic connection between the cities of Glasgow and Stoke-on-Trent has been rekindled, creating a new chapter in their shared clay story.
