School Pods for Bella

The Brief
To involve every primary school pupil in Glasgow in making their mark for Bella the Beithir and learning about Glasgow's ceramic history and heritage
What we are doing
MIG is currently working with local Primary Schools to make Pods for Bella the Beithir. The Pod Programme allows every pupil in a school to take part in a creative education programme, learning about Glasgow’s history and heritage of ceramic production and making their own creative response for Bella. This includes individual and community identity, connection to place, and pattern and mark making to contribute to their class ‘fish’. Pupils also create their own clay tile to keep as a token of their creative contribution to Bella the Beithir.
The first pod sponsored by Mackenzies Construction, was made by St. Mary’s Primary school and installed in October 2024. Through funding received from an individual donor MIG are currently working with North Kelvinside Primary, Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig a’ Challtainn and with Saracen, St Teresa’s and Broomlea Primary Schools through funding received from NG Homes.
